Dr. Schwartz and the Seahorse
The seahorse is a symbol of strength, guidance, transformation and energy. Its ability to negotiate the tumultuous ocean—a symbol of physical and spiritual transformation—signifies its role as a guide through difficult times of change.
As a person with a seahorse totem (symbol or logo), Dr. Schwartz loves being in and around water, holds formality and etiquette in high regard, enjoys life to its fullest, and forms strong attachments to his friends and family.
Like his totem, there is not much he will overlook. He is an astute observer of all that goes on around him. His keen vision extends well beyond the obvious, therefore making him an excellent diagnostician.
As an avid scuba diver and underwater photographer and videographer, the seahorse logo truly represents Dr. Schwartz’s unwavering commitment to his patients and his profession.
Seahorses belong to the family of Syngnathidae, a combination of two Greek words, Syn-meaning “fused” and Gnathus, meaning “jaws”. The ancient Greeks and Romans believed the seahorse was an attribute of the sea-god Neptune/Poseidon and as such, the seahorse was considered a symbol of strength and power. For safe passage and protection, sailors often tattooed themselves with seahorses.
Seahorses are imagined to be mystical and magical and are used in certain cultures as medicine for just about any ailment from impotence to bone fracture. They have long inspired myth and legend.
